Universidad Maharishi de Latinoamerica y el Caribe (UMLAC) is a higher-education institution legally constituted as a foundation under the laws of Curacao. Its purpose is to bring Consciousness-Based Education to the peoples of the Caribbean and Latin America, awakening in each student the full potential of creativity, intelligence and happiness.
UMLAC operates under the academic leadership of its Rector, Dr. Jose Luis Alvarez.
UMLAC exists to cultivate the integral development of the human being. Through an educational model that unites academic formation with systematic human development, the university prepares students for lives that are more productive, fulfilled and beneficial to society.
UMLAC implements Consciousness-Based Education, a pedagogical approach founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and supported by a broad body of scientific research. Its core components include daily practice of Transcendental Meditation, traditional academic study in the light of human development, consciousness-based teaching methods and a balanced educational environment aligned with natural law.
Get to know UMLAC
UMLAC operates under a statutory governance model that includes a Board of Directors, the Rectorate, the Academic Council, the General Secretariat and faculty deanships. These bodies are responsible for institutional policy, academic leadership, quality assurance, archives, compliance and the academic direction of each faculty.
UMLAC’s academic programs are deployed across twelve faculties: Education, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Economics, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Defense, Architecture, Science and Technology, Engineering, and Music and Art.
